Deksisa and Kitur will run at Mumbai Marathon
Ethiopia’s Solomon Deksisa and defending women's champion Bornes Kitur lead an impressive field announced today by organisers of the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2018. With the announcement of the elite field, 4 men who have run under 2:07:00 and another 5 who have run under 2:09:00, as well as 6 women who have gone faster than 2:29:00 will be on the start line. The fastest runner in the Mumbai Marathon, is Deksisa who can boast of a best of 2:06:22, more than 2 minutes quicker than the course record. (01/09/2018) ⚡AMP
Cheruiyot and Kipkemboi take kenyan double in Antrim
World 1500m silver medallist Timothy Cheruiyot and fellow Kenyan Margaret Chelimo Kipkemboi took top honours at the 41st Antrim International Cross Country in Greenmount on Saturday. On a day of calm and mild weather conditions at Greenmount's College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise, Cheruiyot improved upon his third-place finish from 2016. Sado Beats The Rain to Win Xiamen Marathon
Ethiopia’s Fatuma Sado overcame heavy rain and a stomach problem in the latter sages to win the Xiamen International Marathon, an IAAF Gold Label road race, this morning (2:26:41). Sado, the 2013 winner and defending champion Meseret Mengistu were both considered the favorites in the women's race. However, the 27-year-old reigning champion, who was also the fastest entrant (2:23:25) from her victory at the 2015 Paris Marathon, dropped out of the leading group soon after the start. Champions Mengistu and Sado ready to clash in Xiamen
Defending champion Meseret Mengistu and 2013 winner Fatuma Sado of Ethiopia will both chasing a second title at the 16th edition of the Xiamen International Marathon. The 27-year-old Mengistu is the fastest woman on paper with a personal best of 2:23:25 achieved when she won the 2015 Paris Marathon. She has won four out of the five marathon races she completed since 2014, including victories in Cape Town in 2014 and in Beijing in 2016. (01/05/2018) ⚡AMP
Kiptanui wins the San Silvestre Vallecana in Madrid
Kenya’s Erick Kiptanui was the overwhelming winner at the men’s Madrid’s 53th San Silvestre Vallecana, an IAAF Silver Label road race, on the New Year’s Eve. Kiptanui produced the race’s third fastest ever time by clocking 27:34 while Ethiopia’s Gelete Burka stormed to a 30:55 victory in the corresponding women’s race to miss her own race record by just two seconds. Three of Top Ten Winning Female Marathon Times On US Soil
"Three of the top ten winning marathon times were run on American soil in 2017," according to My Best Runs. "Ethiopian Dibaba ran 2:18:31 at the Chicago Marathon which was the second fastest winning time of the year. Boston's winning time of 2:21:52 ranked 7th and Honolulu's 2:22:15 ranked 10th. The best time of the year was run in London. Mary Keitany of Kenya ran 2:17:01." Lots of good times but still no one came close to Paula Radcliffe's world record time of 2:15:25. (12/26/2017) ⚡AMP
No Fast Marathons Held On US Soil In 2017
There were a lot of fast marathon times in 2017. "The 15th fastest winning time for men was posted at the Rome Marathon," according to MBR. "Kitata an Ethiopian runner finished first in 2:07:28. Kipchoge posted the best time of the year at the Berlin Marathon. He ran 2:03:32. The fastest winning time of a marathon held on US Soil was 2:08:27. Kenyan's Cherono ran 2:08:27 at the Honolulu Marathon, 18th best winning time of the year. Only six of the top 50 winning times were run on US soil." (12/26/2017) ⚡AMP
Will Shalane Flanagan Be Able To Pull It Off Again?
Watching Shalane Flanagan win the NYC Marathon was one of the top running highlights of 2017. We are psyched to see that she is planning to race Boston in April. There hasn't been an American female winner at the Boston Marathon in almost 30 years. Kenyan and Ethiopian runners now dominate the sport. But this coming April, Shalane Flanagan has a very real chance of winning. She's only 5-foot-4 and 102 pounds. But don't be fooled -- she's has been called a pony-tailed assassin in knee socks. Bekele wins in Kolkata
Ethiopian running icon Kenenisa Bekele fell short of his target of running a 25km personal best at the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K but he still dominated the race in the Indian city after breaking away from his rivals just after 18 kilometres before coming home in 1:13:48. Dame Dibaba talks about club running after his escape from prison in Ethiopia, the sea crossing from Libya, and the Calais camp known as the Jungle. That was more than two years ago, and since then, Dame Dibaba, a refugee from the Oromia region of Ethiopia, has been, in his words, a “ghost†in this country, albeit a ghost that runs like the wind. Tusa Run PR to win Guangzhou Marathon
24-year-old Rahma Tusa of Ethiopia won the Guangzhou Marathon today. She built up a comfortable lead after midway and trimmed more than two minutes from her personal best to wrap up the third marathon title of her career in 2:25:12. Tusa’s winning mark also beat the course record of 2:26:46 set by Mulu Seboka back when the race was started 2012. It was Tusa’s third marathon in 2017. Seboka Returns to Guangzhou
Course record-holder Mulu Seboka of Ethiopia will return to the Guangzhou Marathon in a bid to regain her title from five years ago. Seboka clocked 2:26:46 to take a convincing victory at the inaugural edition of the race back in 2012 and her course record has stood untouched ever since. The 33-year-old, who set a personal best of 2:21:56 when finishing sixth in Dubai in 2015, is still seen as one of the favourites. (12/08/2017) ⚡AMP
Tsegaye ready to defend his title
Yemane Tsegaye of Ethiopia returns to defend his title at the 71st Fukuoka International Marathon on Sunday. Tsegaye recorded his personal best of 2:04:48 at the 2012 Rotterdam Marathon, and has a silver medal from the IAAF World Championships Beijing 2015 to his credit.
