The 3rd annual My Best Runs Best 100 list was released today. "There are so many good races," says MBR and Runner's World magazine founder Bob Anderson. "Our editors feel these are the world's best 100." Here are some stats: 49 marathons, 19 Half Marathons, 13 10K's, 4 ultras, 27 countries, over $10 million of prize money and even through almost all of these feature a pro race, the average runner can participant too. The streets of Texas’ second-largest city are going to be rocking this weekend as thousands of competitors don their running shoes to take part in numerous events that comprise the Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & ½ Marathon weekend. Kenyans Cyprian Kotut and Rebecca Chesir lead their respective fields at the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon this weekend. Chesir returns to the southeast Asian island city-state to defend her title in the women's race. Running in warm conditions after an early 04:30 start, Chesir won last year's edition by more than a minute in 2:43:03. But the 25-year-old has run considerably faster several times in her career, topped by a 2:24:25 run in Vienna last April.

Yemane Tsegaye of Ethiopia returns to defend his title at the 71st Fukuoka International Marathon on Sunday. Tsegaye recorded his personal best of 2:04:48 at the 2012 Rotterdam Marathon, and has a silver medal from the IAAF World Championships Beijing 2015 to his credit. Last December, the 32-year-old prevented Patrick Makau from winning a third successive Fukuoka title.

MRB BEST 100: Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge says he will take Mo Farah's challenge at the London Marathon "very seriously".
Kipchoge, 33, won the event in 2015 and 2016, and will compete again in 2018.
Farah has run two London Marathons but April's race will be his first since switching focus from a track career in which he won four Olympic and six world titles over 5,000m and 10,000m.
"He's a tough and respectable athlete," Kipchoge told BBC Sport. "I think he will be successful immediately."

She has recovered exceptionally well, providing her the confidence to give the marathon (CIM) another go just 5 weeks after Frankfurt. “It’s probably my best recovery after a marathon yet,†Hall said. “I think recovery is my strength as an athlete. The California International Marathon will celebrate 35 years on December 3 with its largest field of runners, a prestigious national designation as the host of the USATF Marathon Championships and several community and participant-focused enhancements.
General marathon registration and marathon charity entries have pushed the registration total to over 11,000 runners with another 7,000 runners combined in the CIM Relay Challenge and 5k for a race weekend total of 18,000 participants.

Sports trainer Ng See Chye is a seasoned running enthusiast with over 30 years of experience and more than 30 marathons under his belt. But he is expecting this year's Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) to be one of his toughest races.
His 71-year-old father Ng Yoo Ay, also an avid runner, had been slated to run in the 10km category but is now in a coma after a road accident in September.

Two of the biggest names in American long-distance running, Meb Keflezighi and Shalane Flanagan, are coming to Dallas for the 2017 BMW Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon and SMU Cox School of Business Relay, December 8-10. In 2013 Japanese runner Satoru Kasuya was a promising 2:11 marathoner. A few months later he almost died from cancer. On Sunday at the Osaka marathon he ran 2:19:50. Surviving his treatment, Kasuya was determined to make a comeback. In September, 2015 he ran his first race post-surgery, a 5000 m time trial. Five months later he ran a 2:20:38 marathon in Tokyo, Â following up with a 2:24:20 in Nagano this spring. On Sunday he placed 4th in 2:19:50.

Britain’s two fastest half marathon runners of all time, Sir Mo Farah and Callum Hawkins, will face each other at The Big Half, London’s brand new half marathon, on Sunday March 4.
