Moen's Time is Fastest non-African Marathon time
Moen ran 2:05:48 to win the Fukuoka Marathon on Sunday. The quickest time, previously achieved by a non-African male on a record-eligible course was 2:06:05 by Ronaldo da Costa in 1998 — then a world record. Ryan Hall ran 2:04:58 at the Boston Marathon in 2011, but the course was deemed ineligible for record-keeping. Runners live for the day where everything clicks. PR's are set on those days. Norway's Moen had one of those days on Sunday. He beat his PR by four minutes and 19 seconds. (12/04/2017) ⚡AMP
Sara Hall Winner of the California international Marathon
In sunny, windless and cool conditions, Sara Hall of Redding, California won the 2017 USATF Marathon title at the California International Marathon on Sunday. Hall, 34, bounced back from a 2:27:21 personal best performance at the BMW Frankfurt Marathon five weeks ago, to run away from the field here in 2:28:10, the second fastest winning time in the 35-year history of the race. Double Kenyan triumph in Singapore
Pamela Rotich’s 2:38:31 triumph at the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon and her Compatriot Cosmas Kimutai made it a Kenyan double – the seventh in the past eight editions – by winning the men’s race in 2:22:48 in what was his first race for three years. The race, despite starting at 4:30am, still couldn’t escape the 82 degree heat, so times were understandably affected, as is often the case in Singapore. (12/04/2017) ⚡AMP
Norway's Moen Sets European Marathon Record
After breaking away from pre-race favorite Bedan Karoki at 36 kilometres, Norway’s Sondre Nordstad Moen went on to win the Fukuoka Marathon on Sunday (3), clocking a European record of 2:05:48. “I was confident that I could run 2:07, and on a good day perhaps even 2:06, but I did not expect 2:05,†said Moen. Previous record (2:06:10) was set 3/20/2016 by Ozbilen of Turkey. The 26-year-old entered the race with a personal best of 2:10:07, set earlier this year at the Hannover Marathon. (12/03/2017) ⚡AMP
IAAF Fan Photo of the Year Announced
A winner has been selected in the IAAF’s contest for the best photograph of the year taken by a fan photographer. Fan photographers were invited to submit their own entries via social media. The winning entry came from Katie Dunlop, whose photograph of Callum Hawkins at the Great Edinburgh X-Country caught the eye of the panellists. “This is amazing, thank you so much to the IAAF and the judges; I’m a bit shocked!†said Dunlop, “I always enjoy watching the Great Edinburgh XC meet." Tomomi Sawahata Winning Streak
In sixteen days this month Sawahata, 24, won three marathons, all in course record time, all under 2:42 and two in PBs, to give her a streak of fifteen marathon wins since April, 2015, undefeated after a tentative first step at the 2014 Honolulu Marathon. According to the ARRS database, it's one of greatest marathon win streaks at the elite or sub-elite level in history, male or female. (12/01/2017) ⚡AMP
MBR 2018 World's Best 100 Races Announced
The 3rd annual My Best Runs Best 100 list was released today. "There are so many good races," says MBR and Runner's World magazine founder Bob Anderson. "Our editors feel these are the world's best 100." Here are some stats: 49 marathons, 19 Half Marathons, 13 10K's, 4 ultras, 27 countries, over $10 million of prize money and even through almost all of these feature a pro race, the average runner can participant too. Humana RnR San Antonio celebrates 10 years running
The streets of Texas’ second-largest city are going to be rocking this weekend as thousands of competitors don their running shoes to take part in numerous events that comprise the Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & ½ Marathon weekend. Chesir back to defend Singapore Title
Kenyans Cyprian Kotut and Rebecca Chesir lead their respective fields at the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon this weekend. Chesir returns to the southeast Asian island city-state to defend her title in the women's race. Running in warm conditions after an early 04:30 start, Chesir won last year's edition by more than a minute in 2:43:03. But the 25-year-old has run considerably faster several times in her career, topped by a 2:24:25 run in Vienna last April. (12/01/2017) ⚡AMP
Tsegaye ready to defend his title
Yemane Tsegaye of Ethiopia returns to defend his title at the 71st Fukuoka International Marathon on Sunday. Tsegaye recorded his personal best of 2:04:48 at the 2012 Rotterdam Marathon, and has a silver medal from the IAAF World Championships Beijing 2015 to his credit. Eliud Kipchoge to take on Mo Farah in London 2018
MRB BEST 100: Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge says he will take Mo Farah's challenge at the London Marathon "very seriously". Kipchoge, 33, won the event in 2015 and 2016, and will compete again in 2018. Farah has run two London Marathons but April's race will be his first since switching focus from a track career in which he won four Olympic and six world titles over 5,000m and 10,000m. Hall finished 5th at Frankfurt Marathon, setting a personal best of 2:27:21. She has recovered exceptionally well, providing her the confidence to give the marathon (CIM) another go just 5 weeks after Frankfurt. “It’s probably my best recovery after a marathon yet,†Hall said. “I think recovery is my strength as an athlete. Korir Becomes Second American to run Under One Hour
Leonard Korir’s fabulous 2017 continued Sunday morning at the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon in India, as Korir became the second American man to run under 60:00 in the half marathon, running 59:52 for 3rd place behind Berhanu Legese (59:46) and Andamlak Belihu (59:51). CIM to Celebrate 35 Years with Record Numbers
The California International Marathon will celebrate 35 years on December 3 with its largest field of runners, a prestigious national designation as the host of the USATF Marathon Championships and several community and participant-focused enhancements. General marathon registration and marathon charity entries have pushed the registration total to over 11,000 runners with another 7,000 runners combined in the CIM Relay Challenge and 5k for a race weekend total of 18,000 participants. Kipchoge Will Return To London Marathon
Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge will return to the Virgin Money London Marathon on April 22 2018 looking to make it a hat-trick of wins in the capital. 34th Honolulu Marathon Is World's 4th Biggest Marathon
The very first Honolulu Marathon race debuted in 1973. The catalyst wasn't exactly athletic warfare or competition, but more as a way for a maverick cardiologist to show the benefits of long-distance running, primarily for his cardiac patients. 34 years later, it's the fourth biggest marathon in the world. Cancer Survivor Satoru Kasuya runs Sub 2:20 Marathon
In 2013 Japanese runner Satoru Kasuya was a promising 2:11 marathoner. A few months later he almost died from cancer. On Sunday at the Osaka marathon he ran 2:19:50. Surviving his treatment, Kasuya was determined to make a comeback. In September, 2015 he ran his first race post-surgery, a 5000 m time trial. Five months later he ran a 2:20:38 marathon in Tokyo, Â following up with a 2:24:20 in Nagano this spring. On Sunday he placed 4th in 2:19:50. (11/28/2017) ⚡AMP

Britain’s two fastest half marathon runners of all time, Sir Mo Farah and Callum Hawkins, will face each other at The Big Half, London’s brand new half marathon, on Sunday March 4. Jerry Schumacher (Portland, Oregon), whose Bowerman Track Club athletes in 2017 won three medals at the IAAF World Championships, as well as an historic marathon victory, has been named USATF’s 2017 Nike Coach of the Year, USATF announced Monday. “Jerry has become one of the world’s greatest coaches, and the consistent success of his athletes is a testament to that fact,†USATF CEO Max Siegel said. “He and his athletes have helped lead the resurgence in American distance running."
