The first time I went out for my 5:45AM run, I felt pretty uneasy. Running in the dark has never been my favorite. Something about not seeing what's ahead of me was unsettling. I did it anyway. Now, 3 weeks later, I am hooked. There is something about being out on the roads before most everyone is awake. It's peaceful, quiet. I'm so grateful for these early morning runs. GO TEAM! (Tue 19) / Total Miles 195.10 since 7/4/18

I know, right? Like you said, it is just so peaceful and for some reasons, the miles don't seem as long. Plus you have your run in before most people have gotten up and started their day. It's a win win! 3/19 10:09 am

My oldest son (pictured here) has recently started doing very early morning workouts (5:15am). Part of his routine is 10 hill sprints. He does this at 5:45am. I told him I would do it with him …. also, good for me to push myself. So, yesterday we did 10 hill sprints together. Today, he was tired but, I was up so instead, I went out and ran 1 mile. I know it's not much but, it's a start. Early morning is the only time I can fit a run in, will work hard to try to keep this up, even if only a mile or two :) (Tue 15)

What you did today is what this event is all about. Hopefully we gave you a little extra nudge to get out the door! And now you have seven miles in two days. I must admit.... FOR ME, treadmill running is difficult. My mind gets in the way and I find myself staring at the screen waiting for the odometer to move up... One slow (and, I mean slow) tenth of a mile at a time. Today I had big plans to go 3 and I tried hard, I really did but I'm still just getting back to running so when the 2 mile marker clicked over, I realized that 3 may be too much today. It was a good workout and I'm glad I did it. Its not a huge contribution to the team but, every mile counts. Pictured here with me is my daughter who worked out with me today too! (Sat 14)

Good job! I hate the treadmill too. Would rather suffer in the heat sometimes than take it indoors. 7/14 10:46 pm

Well shoot... I didn't make my goal this week. Yesterday I got really sick, high fever and in bed all day. Totally unlike me. Unfortunately, this flu got the best of me. Today I was only able to walk a mile... But, I like to always look at the bright side, even though I've let the team down with missing on the goal of 15 for the week, I can honestly say that if it weren't for this challenge, I would have not even run one mile. I've been walking for awhile now and stepping back into running has been hard. This challenge is helping me... So, 12 miles this week is not too bad and who knows, maybe I'll make up for it next week. Just need to kick this flu first. (Tue 10)

Day 3! Today on my run, I thought a lot about teams. As I was out running, or really I should say 'shuffling along' two different friends who live in my community shouted out to me "GO Lis!" That encouragement coming from the 'team' of friends and neighbors in my community was exactly what I needed to help push me along. Teams are the fabric of life...they're our work teams, out family team, our sports team, our running team! That's what I love about seeing photos and logs from the members of the #runtheworld team. It's so awesome to login everyday and see that we are all part of a team! GO TEAM! Keep the posts coming and Happy Friday. (Fri 6)

From brutal to blissful... here I come! I am just getting back to running and this challenge is helping me do it! This morning, I went out to do my 3 mile loop (the loop that I have been walking with my husband for awhile now) and instead of running, I walked. Walking is great and all BUT, I did not sign up for the 'Walk the World Challenge', I signed up to run. I thought about my walk all day and thought about all the reasons why I signed up for this. Some of those reasons include: Getting back into shape, taking time for myself as a very busy mom of 3, seeing if running will HOPEFULLY have a positive effect on this 'Menopause Mom' and my metabolism that has seemed to taken on a complete halt literally OVERNIGHT...and, finally helping to inspire other runners and moms like me who may be walking in my same shoes. SO, for all those reasons, I put my running shoes back on late this afternoon and went out to my 3 mile loop and ran it! I am not going to lie, it was brutal for me... BUT, as I just read here on My Best Runs in an article titled something like 'How running could be the miracle drug' … running can be brutal in the beginning but, then it's blissful! I am looking forward to that. See you tomorrow for day 3! (Thu 5)
