Even though it was Thursday, I saw ~30 runners training on the course. On Saturdays at this time of the year there are literally thousands out there training. They have tons of aid stations and sometimes cops directing traffic. Very inspiring. 3/15 10:31 am

TOTAL MILES RUN IN LAST 41 DAYS: 21.5 TOTAL MILES RUN TODAY: 26.2 I hurt both calves at Marine Corp Marathon on Oct 28. Registered to run the Kiawah Island Marathon in SC (one of my favorite marathons). Was going to defer but decided to give it a shot since we were here and had rental with friends. 4.50 miles in Boston (runner profile)

Long story short, at the suggestion of Dave McGillivray (race director Boston Marathon) I had an intensive stress test at Mass General Hospital's Athlete Performance Center last Friday. Got results and the doctor told me I pushed the stress test harder than 95% of all clients (includes a who's who of Boston athletes), that my heart was strong and not the reason for my belabored breathing issues. Cleared for running but still need to find the solution. (Tue 4) / Total Miles 698.89 since 7/4/18

Roger Wright (57) US

6.00 miles in Needham, Wellesley, MA (runner profile)

When I started training for my first marathon, I was told to find a point 1.5 miles from my house and back home would be 3 miles. I had no idea how far 1.5 miles was but just kept driving and found myself in the next town, Wellesley. I turned into a cemetery, up a hill and at 1.5 miles I stopped the car by a marker that said HOPE. My mom (Hope) died when I was 15 months old and this is her final resting place. #fate. This morning I ran my 3 mile loop, taking a picture as I said hi to my mom. Tonight I did another 3 miles. (Mon 5) / Total Miles 646.39 since 7/4/18

What a nice story. You are such an inspiration Roger. I am liking two a day myself. Did that with Michael and last few days. Go Team! You are catching me but Michael is way out there this Challenge. 11/5 5:50 pm
For the last two challenges, I have run a marathon the day before the challenge started. Add in a couple of injuries and it's really screwing up my mileage. It's really great that you were able to spend some time running with Michael but saw that you are now back on your own. Let's try and catch him! πŸ˜† 11/5 5:59 pm
We can do it but Michael is on a roll and pulling ahead. 11/5 6:37 pm

Recovery run from Marine Corp Marathon on Sunday. Great marathon but left calf was not impressed and complained very loudly. Around mile 6 I found an apple on the ground and tried rolling calf to no avail. Found discarded arm sleeve around mile 7 and slid it on which helped a little. Tough day but nothing compared to what Marines go through, so sucked it up and finished. (Tue 30) / Total Miles 615.14 since 7/4/18

Staying at Mohegan Sun Hotel/Casino with wife. Ran a very hot, humid and hilly 10.50 miles. Started run at casino, through backwoods, into a city, got a drink of water at a superior court filled with people literally waiting for their day in court, asking strangers for directions ("you're REALLY far away!") and asking a woman at a police station where the water fountain, only to discover that she was standing there all alone with handcuffs on. Your number just flow away? Was your chip on it? In any case, good time. Now is this your 60th marathon or number 61? Good job! Go team! We needed these miles too! 9/30 6:26 pm
Yes it was a chipped bib. I always wear the same race belt with two clips and have never had a problem. I remember tugging at my headphone cord kind of hard around mile 3-4 so maybe it got stuck on the bib and tore it off - only thing I can think of. Really surprised another runner didn't see it fall and tap me on the shoulder. In any event, the timing company just confirmed my start and finish via time stamped video and gave me an official finish time of 4:26:45. This was marathon #60. #61 Oct 28 (Marine Corp). 9/30 7:38 pm
My hat is off to you! I was born in Portland, Maine by the way! 9/30 10:25 pm
@Annie. Such a small world! I was also born in Portland (Maine Osteopathic Hospital - my dad was a doctor there) back in 1961! Lived in Standish until I was 12. 10/1 6:30 am
Well done Roger. When things happen and you are able to refocus and finish strong, that's great! In SA we are not allowed to race with headphones. 10/1 12:04 pm

Ran 1 mile this morning, then 1 hour spin. Came back tonight for 3 more miles on the dreadmills! (Wed 26) / Total Miles 500.26 since 7/4/18
Share
Do you think the spinning helps your running? You mix it in on days you jump on the dreadmill. Go Roger! Go Team! 9/26 7:42 pm
Ever since I started training for my first marathon ten years ago, I have always done spin on M,W,F so not sure what would happen if I didn't. When I first started going I was ~300 lbs so I took a bike in the darkest corner of the room so no one could see me. I still sit on that same bike every time. 9/27 7:10 am
That bike is so much happier these days I bet. Do you do anything other than spin? Weights? I don't think you have had many injuries, right? Maybe the spin helps in that department? 9/27 5:27 pm

Supposed to be Marine Corp Marathon (Oct 28) but last night at a running club meeting I met a runner who is running the Maine Half Marathon this Sunday so I came home and signed up for the full. I lay all of the blame on this Global Run Challenge. lol 9/25 6:07 pm
How many marathons will this be for you Roger? You doing Marine Corp too? What is the course like for the Maine marathon? So you were going to do the half but signed up for the marathon. Love it! Good luck! 9/25 6:36 pm
This will be my 60th full/ultra in 9.5 years. I have MCM in October and Kiawah Island SC in December. I had no idea about the race until she mentioned it last night. Said it was a fun race (she's doing the half) so figured I could get in a 20+ run in for the team. I'm a little impulsive so the adventure is my driving force. 9/25 7:28 pm
That's a lot of marathons in 9.5 years! Your impulsive side is helping the team. You ran and logged 278 miles our first challenge and you are already at 221 miles now. You are way ahead of your goal. Go Roger! 9/26 5:32 pm

Getting in the miles any way we can. Adidas is what I have been wearing for several years now. I like light shoes. Are these light? I like the Boston but I think it is now discontinued. Go team! 9/21 12:26 pm
I have been running with Ultra Boosts for ~3 years and love them. I had a barely worn pair of Adizero Boston Boosts but gave them away to an aspiring runner as I liked the Ultra better even though they are ~1.8 ounces heavier. They give more support for longer miles which I need. I rotate 9 pair of Ultras right now (I have both the "Regular" and the "Uncaged") and for shorter runs use a couple of pairs of Adizeros Tempos which are very light. Ultras run $180-200 but Adidas has them on sale and had a 30% off code that worked but ended a few days ago. Go to Adidas.com and look for "Sale". 9/21 12:57 pm

I guess rain is better than hot and humid? Good job. You are blasting it and our team appreciates it. Go team! 9/18 1:56 pm
It was actually really hot and humid with the coat on...and off! I was in front of the house at 9.25 miles and decided to go for 10 for the GRC. Got to 10 and said "This one goes to 11" ("This Is Spinal Tap" reference). lol 9/18 2:56 pm

23.00 miles in Cambridge, Boston, Chestnut Hill, Brookline, Newton, Wellesley, (runner profile)

Dropped my nephews car off at his apartment in Harvard Square (Cambridge). Ran 6 miles along the Charles River to Downtown Boston, grabbed a donut at Kanes, through a pot smoke-in/market at the Common, ran the marathon route back out to Wellesley and then home. Fun day! (Sat 15) / Total Miles 416.31 since 7/4/18

You certainly blew me out of the water today. Wow, a 23 mile day. Way to go. What is a pit smoke-in/market? Go Roger! go team! 9/15 2:02 pm
Did some research and it was called MassCann which was hailed as "The 2nd Largest Annual Gathering of Cannabis Supporters in the World!". Attendees kept wandering into my running path. lol Interesting people and lots of music but in retrospect, I wish I had just run AROUND the Boston Common instead of ACROSS it. 9/15 3:55 pm
Sounds like a bypass might have been the best solution. Did you get high passing through. That was a good run today for you! 9/15 11:07 pm
Goodness look like team RuntheWorld really went big on distance today! 9/16 7:44 am
No "contact high" Bob. The only high I got was a "Sugar High" from the donut I ate and the "Runners High" from loving the adventure that was constantly evolving! :D 9/16 6:14 pm

Dropped car off for tire change so I ran to Boston (West Roxbury and Roslindale) and back rather than sit for ~90 minutes. I love the view of Downton Boston from this street so I asked a guy waiting for the bus to take my picture. :) (Thu 13) / Total Miles 382.31 since 7/4/18
