After the Boston Marathon released its all-star U.S. women’s lineup for the 2018 race, the first question many fans asked was: Why isn’t Amy Cragg running it, too?. The Deakin University study found runners who run at least 30 miles a week – displayed bone marrow eight years "younger" than those who did not perform regular exercise. As a person ages, their bone marrow converts from a "red" blood cell-producing marrow to a "yellow" fatty marrow, which can negatively affect blood and bone metabolism, and contribute to conditions like osteoporosis and diabetes. Every time Sarah Attar runs a personal best, which she did Sunday in Houston with a 1:26:47 in the half marathon, she also sets a national record. Attar is the only elite female runner to represent Saudia Arabia and, as a 19-year-old in London in 2012, she became famous for becoming one of the first two women to represent the country in the Olympics. "There was a lot of backlash at the time," she said. But, when she crossed the finish line, "I had a standing ovation of, like, 80,000 people." (01/15/2018) ⚡AMP
