After months of trash talk between Olympic and world 100m champion Noah Lyles and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill about who would win in a 100m race, the debate will finally be settled. According to a report in Ad Age, both athletes have committed to a race organized by actor and America’s Got Talent host Terry Crews.

The competition will be part of “Super Serious on Sight”–an elimination-style tournament between Olympic runners and pro athletes co-founded by Crews. Super Serious did not reveal the date of the high-profile race, but it would presumably be after the 2024 NFL season and before the 2025 summer track season .

“I wouldn’t beat him by a lot, but I would beat Noah Lyles,” the NFL player said after the Paris 2024 Olympics. The 30-year-old is known for being one of the fastest players in pro football and comes from a track and field background. Hill represented Team USA at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Barcelona, winning gold in the men’s 4x100m relay and bronze in the 200m, with a personal best of 20.54 seconds.

In response, during an interview with NBC Sports, Lyles said he didn’t know who Hill was, referring to him only by his nickname, “Cheetah.”

“What’s the Cheetah guy from football, what’s his name? I can’t remember his name,” Lyles said. “What’s the football player who thinks he’s fast name?”

Lyles has a history of being overconfident while mocking other athletes–the 27-year-old also pretended he didn’t know who Team Canada was (in the men’s 4x100m relay) ahead of the Paris Olympics, where Canada brought home gold.

Lyles announces engagement to Junelle Bromfield

In other Noah Lyles news, on Sunday, the 27-year-old announced his engagement to fellow Olympic sprinter Junelle Bromfield. The celebrated sprinter went all out with the setup–posts on social media showed a rose-petal-covered walkway, with friends and family in attendance. In his post, Lyles wrote “To My Future Wife I Will Love You Forever.”

The walkway was surrounded by bouquets of flowers and sparklers, and led to a heart-shaped sign lit with the words “Will you marry me?” The popular couple’s posts on social media have received overwhelming support and congratulatory messages from fellow international track sensations.

The pair has been dating for two years after meeting through social media, and share a passion for track. Lyles, who is known for his bold personality, holds Olympic gold in the 100m and two bronze medals in the 200m. Bromfield, 26, won a bronze medal for Team Jamaica at Tokyo 2020 in the 4x400m relay.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shericka Jackson and Hansle Parchment are among the global champions who feature on Jamaica’s team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Fraser-Pryce claimed 100m titles at both the 2008 and 2012 Games and secured 100m silver in Tokyo. Jackson, a two-time world 200m champion, claimed 100m bronze behind Fraser-Pryce in Tokyo and in Paris she is entered for both the 100m and 200m.

Parchment will defend his 110m hurdles title, while Kishane Thompson, who won the national 100m title in 9.77, will contest that sprint event.

World U20 champion Jaydon Hibbert is entered for the triple jump and Danniel Thomas-Dodd, the 2019 world silver medallist, is confirmed for the shot put.

Jackson has admitted to being ‘depressed’ growing up as she did not experience much love growing up.

Jamaican sprint sensation Shericka Jackson has opened up on her dark past as she spoke about her mental health experiences that took all of her admirers and the track world by surprise.

Jackson expressed how her childhood was typically not normal, admitting she did not witness much love while growing up, which has made it difficult for her to express her love.

Speaking in the trailer of an upcoming exclusive interview with Track Spice, she admitted she was “depressed” on several occasions while growing up which led to her aggressive behavior as a coping mechanism.

 “I was struggling mentally. I was depressed. I never grew up in a lot of love,” Jackson said.

“I am very aggressive but still protective. A Lot of people do not understand me.”

Jackson has admitted that forging a relationship with God has helped her to be happier.

“Having a relationship with God, it helps me to be happier.”

It is not the first time Jackson has openly revealed how her faith has helped her overcome mental challenges like stress.

Recently, she revealed a list of ways in which she handles stress when a fan asked her ‘How do you manage stress?’ during her Instagram Q&A (question and answer) session. 

“So many ways but I keep God in the center of it all. Pray a lot, BAWL a lot, I also go to therapy so that helps me a lot. I document how I feel most days so when I'm under a little stress I know what to do. Plus my friends are my free therapy” Shericka Jackson wrote along with a red heart emoji.

Despite all these, she did not fail to achieve massive milestones on and off the track. Her recent accolade from her alma mater is a testament to that.

The Jamaican sprinting sensation concluded her 2023 season with a token of respect from the University of Technology in Jamaica.

The 29-year-old was conferred with an honorary doctorate from the university. The 200m World Champion was praised in front of all her admirers who roared in cheers after she received her prize at the podium.

She has found a close-knit circle of friends that also includes Noah Lyles’ girlfriend Junelle Bromfield. Garnered with all their love Shericka Jackson is achieving volumes, getting past her dark days.
