Ja’Kobe Tharp has added another major milestone to his rapidly rising athletics career, emerging as the Diamond League Final champion in the men’s 110m hurdles after producing a composed and fiercely contested performance in Brussels.

The American hurdler battled through a tight race in which the field remained closely packed for much of the contest. With little separating the leading contenders, Tharp kept his composure when it mattered most, finding another gear over the closing stages to pull away from his rivals.

The decisive moment came over the final two hurdles. While the competition remained intense, Tharp attacked the final barriers with greater conviction and surged clear of the field before powering through the finish line in 13.03 seconds, with a slight legal headwind of -0.2 m/s.

It was not a race won by overwhelming dominance from the opening gun. Instead, Tharp displayed the qualities required to triumph on the biggest stages — patience, precision, resilience and the ability to deliver under pressure when victory was still within reach.

Jamal Britt produced an impressive performance of his own to secure the silver medal in 13.09 seconds, finishing just six hundredths of a second behind the champion. Trey Cunningham completed the podium, crossing the line in 13.22 seconds to claim bronze.

For Tharp, the Diamond Trophy represents a significant achievement and another statement of his credentials among the world's elite hurdlers. His victory also underlines the depth of American talent in the 110m hurdles, with three athletes featuring prominently on a major championship-style stage.

The 110m hurdles final ultimately belonged to Tharp, however. When the pressure intensified and the race entered its decisive phase, he remained technically sharp and unleashed the finishing speed that separated him from the rest.

A 13.03-second victory may look modest on the results sheet, but the manner in which Tharp secured it made the performance particularly impressive. He waited, fought and then struck at precisely the right moment — a champion's finish when the Diamond Trophy was on the line.
