Organizers of the 3-Country Marathon have committed to going ahead with their race next month.

In a statement, they said: “For many, it will indeed be like their first time after this long, non-competitive break from the marathon. We want to support you in this premiere with a clear statement:

The Sparkasse 3-Country Marathon will take place on October 10, 2021. In reality. Not virtual. And all of this with the full range of services in a highly professional environment.”

The Sparkasse 3-Lander Marathon – starting in Germany, traversing Switzerland and finishing in Austria – has been cancelled for this year’s edition due on 4 October.

Registration fees are transferable for the 2021 or 2022 editions. The 2021 race will be held on 10 October.

The Sparkasse 3-Lander Marathon is unique in that runners will pass through three different countries. The marathon starts from the beautiful Island of Lindau-habour, then passes through the Austrian towns Lochau, Bregenz, Hard, Höchst, it then crosses the Swiss border at St. Margreten and continues across the Rheindamm back to Hard and finally finishes in Bregenz. 60% of the course takes place along Lake Constance. This Oct 7th race is for sure a bucket list type of event.
