Two determined Mexican athletes produced inspiring performances on the global stage on Sunday, successfully completing the prestigious Nagoya Women's Marathon in Nagoya, Japan—one of the world’s most renowned women-only marathon races.
Representing Mexico with pride, Juana Ramírez crossed the finish line in 2:48:25, marking a personal best performance after a disciplined and determined effort over the full 42.195-kilometer distance. Her race was built on patience and control, as she carefully managed the early kilometers before maintaining a steady rhythm through the latter stages to secure a memorable milestone in her marathon career.
Fellow Mexican runner Argentina Valdepeñas Cerna also delivered a strong and composed performance, stopping the clock in 2:45:30. Running with confidence and consistency, she navigated the demanding course with poise, holding her pace well against a competitive international field that gathered in Japan for one of the sport’s most respected road races.
The Nagoya Women's Marathon has long been a stage where endurance, discipline, and quiet determination come together over the streets of Nagoya. For Ramírez and Valdepeñas Cerna, their performances reflected more than finishing times—they captured the spirit of persistence that defines marathon running. Step by step, through every kilometer, their journeys told a story of commitment, courage, and the steady rise of Mexican women making their mark in the global distance-running landscape.
