The Cooper River Bridge Run provides a world-class 10-K foot race held in Charleston, S. Carolina. The race promotes continuous physical activity and a healthy lifestyle through education and opportunity. On Sunday morning, April 2, 1978, the starting gun was fired for the First COOPER RIVER BRIDGE RUN and the race began. Even at that time it was successful beyond the organizers wildest expectations. The categories were: open male, open female, masters male and masters female. Today this race has established itself amongst the best courses in the world.

For the first time in 26 years, an American crossed the finish line of the Cooper River Bridge Run first.
Shadrack Kipchirchir of Colorado Springs, Colorado completed the 6.2-mile course Saturday in 28 minutes, 12 seconds.
"That's the best feeling you'll ever get," Kipchirchir told the media after winning the race.

The Dole Great Race is a celebration of running that features six races, including two half-marathons. The incredibly scenic Chesebro Half-Marathon mostly trail race and the gorgeous Pacific Half-Marathon road race. Indeed, there's a race for everyone at the Great Race, where the schedule also includes the Deena Kastor 5K, Old Agoura 10K, Kids 1 Mile run and Camp Kinneret Family Fun Run.
Agoura Hills, which is about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles and less than 10 miles northwest of L.A.'s city limits, is called the Gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains. The great U.S. female runner Deena Kastor grew up in Agoura Hills (she was Deena Drossin then), graduated from Agoura High School and later became the most decorated female long-distance runner in American history, winning the bronze medal in the women's marathon at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. She still holds the U.S. women's records in the marathon (2:19:36), the half-marathon (1:07:34) and at various other road distances.

The Credit Union Cherry Blossom is known as "The Runner's Rite of Spring" in the Nation's Capital. The staging area for the event is on the Washington Monument Grounds, and the course passes in sight of all of the major Washington, DC Memorials.
The event serves as a fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, a consortium of 170 premier children's hospitals across the United States. About one-third of the funds raised support Washington, DC's own Children's National Medical Center ("Children's Hospital"). The event also funds two $5,000 Road Runners Club of America "Roads Scholar" grants designed to support up-and-coming U.S. distance running talent.

The Marathon, organized since 2002 is one of the most popular running events in Poland. It is also the event which brings the biggest number of international participants, who every year come to Krakow to compete. So far, the Cracovia Marathon has seen participants from 55 countries.
The Sports Infrastructure Management Board of Krakow is leading the project of the most prestigious award for the marathon runners – the Crown of Polish Marathons. In order to receive the title and the crown, a runner has to finish five marathons: Dabno Marathon, Cracovia Marathon, Wroclaw Marathon, Warsaw Marathon and Poznan Marathon within 24 months, starting from the date of the first completed run. The number of people who were awarded the Crown of Polish Marathons medal is still increasing, and in December 2016 there were almost 7500 runners, who have completed this daunting challenge.
On the day before the main competition, many attractions and activities will await the participants and the fans, including runs and sporting activities for children.

The start and finish of the PZU Cracovia Marathon will be located on the Krakow's Main Market Square. According to the motto of the event: "Through history", the participants of the marathon will be running along many wonderful historical monuments of Krakow.
Massive, well organized, lights up the town, an entire weekend is built around the event.....you still see folks in their race gear downtown at midnight.
