Brighton Half Marathon

Sunday March 1st, 2026
Brighton, United Kingdom
Distance: Half Marathon · Kids Race
Offical Race Web Site

The Brighton Half Marathon is run on a beautiful seafront course, amazing crowd support and one of the first half marathons on the running calendar.

A small group of individuals started the race back in the early 1990s and the money raised from that very first race was used to help fund the building of The Sussex Beacon, the charity which organizes the race.

Over the past 28 years, the race has grown in numbers and it is now one of the largest running events in the south east and a significant fundraising event for many worthy charities and causes.

The Brighton Half Marathon is the biggest annual fundraising event for The Sussex Beacon, supporting a specialist HIV care center in Brighton.

Brighton Half Marathon

About the course

The start and finish of the race are on Madeira Drive next to the Steve Ovett statue.

Miles 1 – 3

Starting on Madeira Drive, you’ll turn right at the Sea Life Centre, towards Ovingdean, passing regal Royal and Lewes Crescent architecture on your left. Continuing on Marine Drive and the bracing cliff tops, the race will head towards the Blind Veterans UK centre, where a sharp turn on the road before the Greenways Roundabout will bring you back west towards Brighton, enjoying wonderful cliff top and panoramic city views.

Miles 3 – 7

Picking up the pace as you run past the iconic blue railings on Marine Parade, spot Brighton Palace Pier on your left. At Aquarium Roundabout the race heads north, past the grandeur of the Royal Pavilion towards the majesty of St Peter’s Church. Turning at Gloucester Place, you head south back down Grand Parade to the Old Steine before turning right onto Grand Junction Road.

In mile 7 you’ll hit The Grand Hotel Brighton (our headline sponsor) – look out for their Community Stage full of entertainment to pep you up! The course heads towards Hove next, and you’ll be able to spot the West Pier on the horizon, plus the British Airways i360

Miles 7 – 13.1

Once past the two piers, you will head into Hove along the Kings Road with the majestic cream regency architecture on your right and the sea on your left. Past the King Alfred Leisure Centre, you will run to Hove Lagoon before turning left onto the seafront. A great two mile run past the colourful beach huts of Hove will bring you back to the Peace Statue, where the race re-joins the road for the last dash past cheering crowds to the finish on Madeira Drive.

2019 will be the 29th year of The Grand Brighton Half Marathon. One of the first major halfs in the running calendar, the race is now one of the most popular races in the UK.

A small group of individuals started the race back in the early 1990s and the money raised from that very first race was used to help fund the building of The Sussex Beacon, the charity which organises the race.

Los Angeles Marathon

Sunday March 15th, 2026
Los Angeles, California
Distance: Marathon · 5K
Offical Race Web Site

The LA Marathon is an annual running event held each spring in Los Angeles, Calif. The 26.219 mile (42.195 km) footrace, inspired by the success of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games, has been contested every year since 1986. While there are no qualifying standards to participate in the Skechers Performnce LA Marathon, runners wishing to receive an official time must successfully complete the course in eight hours. To date, there have been 459,570 official finishers.

Los Angeles is a popular venue for novice marathoners, and on average 53 percent of the runners who make up the field are attempting a marathon for the first time. The Marathon has been through several course layouts since its inception, most of which started and finished in downtown Los Angeles. On Sept. 25, 2008, former Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team owner Frank McCourt, through his affiliate, LA MARATHON LLC, acquired the operating rights to the marathon.

Less than 14 months later, on Nov. 9, 2009, race organizers unveiled a new “Stadium to the Sea” course which shifted the starting line to Dodger Stadium and the finish line to the Santa Monica Pier. Due to the enthusiasm generated by the dynamic new point-to-point course, the 2010 edition of the race drew 26,054 registrants (22,361 finishers), making it the largest field in the history of the event.
