The Padova Marathon is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of sport, history, and community. With 5,000 competitive athletes and 20,000 participants in the Stracittadine fun runs, it stands as a premier event on the international running calendar.

Now in its 24th edition (2025), the marathon offers a breathtaking course through Padua’s rich landscape. Runners traverse the volcanic hills, once reclaimed by monks, and experience the charm of Abano, famed for its thermal waters dating back to prehistoric times.

The return journey showcases Padua’s historic splendor, passing by the Basilica of Saint Anthony, one of Italy’s most significant religious sites. The race culminates in Prato della Valle, one of Europe’s largest squares, delivering an unforgettable finish.

Set in the heart of the “beautiful Padua, cradle of the arts,” the Padova Marathon is a must-experience event for runners and spectators alike.

About The Course

The Marathon route – inaugurated with the 2016 edition and subject to a small but significant restyling with the 2023 edition – includes departure and arrival in Padua.

It starts in the area of the Euganeo Stadium – already scene of several editions of the International Meeting of athletics – and, passing through Rubano, Selvazzano Dentro and Teolo, goes on towards the area of the Euganean Hills, reaching the center of Abano Terme, passes in front of the Kursaal and the historic Hotel dell’Orologio, to return to the Città del Santo (City of the Saint, i.e. Saint Anthony).

The return to Padua takes place crossing the Mandria and Via Goito. The entrance into the historic centre, passing along Via Vescovado and Piazza del Duomo. The race crosses the most beautiful part of the city, touching Piazza dei Signori, Piazza della Frutta, passing alongside Caffè Pedrocchi, Palazzo del Bo and in front of the Basilica of Saint Anthony, a symbol of Christianity.

Ending in the extraordinary scenery offered by Prato della Valle, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful finish lines in the world.
