If you’re going all the way to Catalonia to race, you might as well make the most of it. This one could be just the ticket for a late summer holiday, as the race falls amid a week-long festival celebrating all that is Catalan – music, a night market and a lace festival – with bull fighting also scheduled for those inclined.

The race itself provides ‘special’ feeding stations, with regional specialties, including wine and Muscat, while you visit the old town and its surroundings, which lies between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean.

An Italian evening and cabaret on the evening prior to the race, and a Catalan meal afterwards, means that you shouldn’t go hungry or thirsty, however long you decide to stay. Finally, if you prefer your culture a little more refined, the town of Céret is renowned for its association with modern art – every runner will get a free entry to the local Musée d’Art Moderne.

Hosted over 3 days, the Golden Ultra incorporates two stage races (Half Pint & Full Pint) and their component days into one big mountain trail running festival. Runners can choose between either stage race and any of the individual single-day distances.

The “Full Pint” consists of a vertical kilometre, a 60 kms ultra, and a 22kms Half Marathon on the final day (Sunday). We have named this race the “Blood, Sweat, Tears”

The “Half Pint” consists of a 3km hill climb, a 30 km second day, and a nice “easy” 10 km to finish off your weekend on dirt. We call this the “Climb, Conquer, Cruise”

The Tallinn Marathon has won a sure place in the competition calendar of runners and has become an attractive destination for running tourists looking for new experiences. About 20 000 running enthusiasts from 56 different countries participated in the 2017 event.

As a tradition, the marathon will take place in every second Sunday of September, this year 9^th of September, and the participants will have a choice to run either a marathon or half-marathon. 10 km and Mesikäpp Children races will take place a day eariler, on Saturday 9th of September. All walkers and Nordic walkers are also welcome to attend the 10 km race. Make sure to attend or come support We Run Tallinn for youth, which will take place a Friday evening, 7^th of September.

Similarly to most well-known international running events, the route of the Tallinn Marathon will run in city centre, passing through both the Old Town and the modern centre and by several well-known sights. The route conforms to international standards and is relatively fast; the weather of the region in September should also be favourable to running. This attracts fast runners from countries with strong running traditions and allows hobby runners to attempt breaking their own records as well. But the main benefit is the joy of moving together with thousands of great runners.
