5,000 competitive athletes, 20,000 participants in the Stracittadine.

These are the numbers of the Padova Marathon, a leading event on the international running calendar, but also a great popular festival.

24th EDITION

The thrill of seeing Prato della Valle open up in front of you when you approach the finish line is beyond words. But the final stretch of the route is not the only thing that makes the Padova Marathon unique: it is its entire landscape, stage of the event.

The volcanic hills reclaimed by the monks and the suggestive entrance to Abano, where the thermal water has gushed out since prehistoric times. Then the way back through the most touristic part of the city, with the route passing by the Basilica of Saint Anthony.

In the heart of the “beautiful Padua, cradle of the arts“ sung by Shakespeare.

About The Course

The Marathon route – inaugurated with the 2016 edition and subject to a small but significant restyling with the 2023 edition – includes departure and arrival in Padua.

It starts in the area of the Euganeo Stadium – already scene of several editions of the International Meeting of athletics – and, passing through Rubano, Selvazzano Dentro and Teolo, goes on towards the area of the Euganean Hills, reaching the center of Abano Terme, passes in front of the Kursaal and the historic Hotel dell’Orologio, to return to the Città del Santo (City of the Saint, i.e. Saint Anthony).

The return to Padua takes place crossing the Mandria and Via Goito. The entrance into the historic centre, passing along Via Vescovado and Piazza del Duomo. The race crosses the most beautiful part of the city, touching Piazza dei Signori, Piazza della Frutta, passing alongside Caffè Pedrocchi, Palazzo del Bo and in front of the Basilica of Saint Anthony, a symbol of Christianity.

Ending in the extraordinary scenery offered by Prato della Valle, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful finish lines in the world.
