This is the latest update as posted on their website (August 6) but be sure to check for the latest information.
" The Braderie de Lille 2020 Races On the occasion of the Braderie de Lille 2020, the half-marathon leaves its traditional route to be exported to the Grand Boulevard. “All supporters of the resistance to terrorism have been working for months on the 2020 project.
Faced with the changes imposed by the security rules on the Braderie, the City of Lille and the Prefecture considered that it was no longer possible to run in the heart of the Braderie ”, indicates the press release of the organization.
The start and finish of the various "Brader'Y" races will take place a few meters from the Place du Théâtre de la Madeleine. On this Place du Théâtre, all runners can meet in the Village: results, activities and of course mussels and fries will be waiting for them.
From Wednesday September 2, it is on this same place, in the same Village, that registered runners will be able to come and collect their bibs! We find there the 3 big races namely the semi, the 10kms and the 2024 (for children from 6 to 14 years old). Start / Finish of the Half Marathon: on the Grand Boulevard, before the tunnel under Avenue du Maréchal Leclerc."
The Lille Métropole Half Marathon - Semi-Marathon de Lille Métropole in French -is an annual half marathon foot race which takes place in Lille, France in early September. The Shamrock Marathon was born in 1973. It was the brainchild of Jerry Bocrie, who along with his wife Lori would serve as race director for 30 years. The inaugural marathon had 59 entrants and 38 finishers, and the weekend also featured 1-mile, 2-mile, and 6-mile races. In 1976, the 6-miler gave way to an 8k, which has remained a part of the weekend in one form or another ever since.
The event continued to grow and evolve in the 1980’s. In 1982, the 10th annual Shamrock Marathon was named the Largest Sporting Event in Virginia, and in 1984, the first post race party was added. World class athletes such as Bill Rodgers, Jeff Galloway, and Grete Waitz, all ran one or more Shamrock events, with Grete setting a then world record in the 8k in 1986 (25:03).
