Marathon Course

The Silver Falls Marathon is challenging, but quite possibly the most amazing and beautiful course on the west coast! Features significant elevation gain with mud, rocks, a creek crossing and lots of hills! Course begins in the south falls day use area and features a total of 6 aid stations. The marathon follows the same scenic course as the half and at the 2 nd aid station (mile 6) splits off and begins it’s own 13+ mile journey in the back country trails of Silver Falls State Park. Huge fir trees, several bridge crossings, lung busting hills, a creek water crossing (mile 9), amazing single track trails and wildlife greet runners in this remote area!

After joining back with the half course at aid station #5 (mile 19.1) the marathon now enjoys the stunning and scenic canyon trail with several spectacular waterfalls along the way back to the finish at south falls day use area. Course will be well marked and will have mile markers at all aid stations. Sorry, no pets or walkers allowed on courses.

N Kolay Istanbul Marathon

Sunday November 2nd, 2025
Istanbul, Turkey
Distance: Marathon · 15K · 10K · Fun Run
Offical Race Web Site

At the beginning, the main intention was simply to organise a marathon event. Being a unique city in terms of history and geography, Istanbul deserved a unique marathon. Despite the financial and logistical problems, an initial project was set up for the Eurasia Marathon.

In 1978, the officials were informed that a group of German tourists would visit Istanbul the next year, who run marathons in the countries they visited, the Nile Marathon in Egypt being the most recent race they participated. It was then decided to realise the Eurasia Marathon project.

Having solved the problems with the course and the traffic, the organisers invited the elite Turkish athletes to the event as well. Finally, all preparations were completed and the marathoners whom 34 of them were from the 74-person tourist group gathered at the starting point, 700 meters behind the Bosphorous Bridge on that historical day.

Thus, the Bosphorous Bridge witnessed a marathon for the first time in its history, which the runners crossed from Asia to Europe. That was the beginning of an important event. The first Eurasia Marathon was won by Hasan Saylan, a Turkish athlete from the city of Zonguldak, in a time of 2:35:39.

Being organized for 30 years, one of the most important features of the Eurasia Marathon is that it aims friendship and peace since day one. The race course changed three times over the years, therefore winning times vary in those periods. Well known athletes such as Ian Thompson and Terry Mitchell participated in the Eurasia Marathon, which also became a testing ground for Turkish athletes, many of whom went on to run at international races.

Rio Del Lago 100 Mile Endurance Run

The race will start at Beal's Point in the beautiful Sierra Foothills of California, about 40 minutes east of Sacramento.

Rio Del Lago 100 begins at beautiful Beal’s Point, at Folsom Lake State Recreation Area in the Sierra-Nevada Foothills. With Folsom Lake as the sparkling backdrop you’ll traverse through Oak woodland and meadows, over bridges and creeks, up and down switchbacks and along the most spectacular trails in the area. This scenic 100 mile foot race combines 2 of the Best trail races in Northern California: American River 50 and Way Too Cool 50K.

The 100 mile course is a variety of terrains that novice and veteran runners alike will enjoy. Runners will begin their 100 mile journey running the perimeter of Beal’s Point to the American River Parkway. Out of Beal’s Point, the course then heads South on the American River Parkway to the historic Walker Bridge. The course will wind down under the Powerhouse and behind the Lake Natoma Inn hotel. The course remains on the south side of Lake Natoma on the American River Parkway through Willow Creek and then to the Aquatic Center. At the Aquatic Center, the course traverses across the bridge up to the Nimbus Bluffs.

Runners will ascend on a single track trail to the Hazel Bluffs. Upon descending from the Hazel Bluffs, the course will re-connect with the bike trail and intermix with fire roads and single track trails through Beal’s Point. After reaching Beal's Point, runners will enjoy single track trails and head north on the path worn by gold miners in search of riches: The Pioneer Express Trail, near the entrance of the Granite Bay State Park. Runners will continue to Granite Beach on the north side of Folsom Lake.

Runners leave Granite Beach and continue north towards Twin Rocks and Auburn, CA. Runners will pass through Horseshoe Bar and Rattlesnake Bar (no, we aren’t talking about stopping at local pubs, but rather passing over the sand bars that miners would pan gold from, but there ARE Aid Stations at each). The route continues to Power Plant, Avery's Pond, Dowdin's Post, and arrives at the base of Cardiac Hill. Runners will take a deep breath and then ascend up Last Gasp to the Auburn Dam Overlook. Exiting the Overlook, runners descend on the Western States Trail to the notable 104 year old No Hands Bridge.

From No Hands Bridge, runners will cross Highway 49 at Lower Quarry. The Rio course now joins forces with the iconic Way Too Cool 50K course. You will run along the scenic Quarry Road until continuing through Main Bar. You will make your way to Auburn Lake Trails, Goat Hill and descend down to the Upper Highway 49 crossing. From Upper Highway 49, you will follow the WS trail back to the meadow which will then bring you down the luge as you return to No Hands Bridge.

From No Hands Bridge, runners will re-trace their footsteps back to the Auburn Overlook (running DOWN Last Gasp, take that!) From there, runners follow the trails back through Cardiac, Rattlesnake Bar, Horseshoe Bar, Twin Rocks to Beal’s Point to cross the finish line and celebrate!

TCS New York City Marathon

Sunday November 2nd, 2025
New York, New York
Distance: Marathon
Offical Race Web Site

The first New York City Marathon, organized in 1970 by Fred Lebow and Vince Chiappetta, was held entirely in Central Park. Of 127 entrants, only 55 men finished; the sole female entrant dropped out due to illness. Winners were given inexpensive wristwatches and recycled baseball and bowling trophies. The entry fee was $1 and the total event budget was $1,000.

In 1976, Lebow and 2,090 entrants took the New York City Marathon to the streets of the five boroughs in a moving celebration of sport and diversity. The course included five bridges, and winners Bill Rodgers and Miki Gorman shattered the event records.

Two years later, at the 1978 New York City Marathon, Grete Waitz of Norway, a track Olympian who’d never run farther than 12 miles, won the race in a world-record 2:32:30. Rodgers overcame 75-degree temperatures to become the race’s first three-time winner, and he added a fourth the next year, when Waitz broke her own world record.

The 2013 New York City Marathon returned the event to its place as New York City’s best day. A record 50,000+ runners finished the race, the most in any marathon ever. The 2014 TCS New York City Marathon again had a record number of finishers: 50,530.
