My BEST Runs Fastest Marathon (men)
Kaiser Napa Valley Marathon

Sunday March 3rd, 2019
Napa, California
Distance: Marathon · 5K

As one of California's top tourist destinations, Napa Valley has been home to this race for decades. When it comes to scenic, it just doesn't get better than Napa in the spring. The narrow valley is covered in grape vines that stretch high up the hillsides on either side. The colors are crisp green, blue and yellow at that time of year.

The more than 300 architecturally unique wineries look like castles, mansions, sprawling villas and even sunken flying saucers. Subject to periodic rain showers but enjoying mostly crystal clear mornings, the race is a favorite, always a sellout and operates with a seasoned cast of running officials so it all goes down as smooth as Napa's finest Cabernet.

This race is a must-do. One of my all-time favorites. Great two-day expo, great race t-shirts, one of the best goody bags, wonderful course, fantastic medals.

Kaiser Napa Valley Marathon

As many of you know, the Napa and Sonoma wine country regions have suffered great damage and devastation due to the wildfires that started on the evening of October 8th. Fire fighters came from all over the region and several surrounding states to help fight the fires. It will certainly be a long road to recovery but the outpouring of support of our local communities has been beyond amazing.

The Napa Valley Marathon course along the east side of the Silverado Trail has been affected in some areas where the fire burned right down to the road. As it turns out, the course provided an excellent fire barrier and kept it from spreading into the center of the valley.

The vast majority of wineries remained remarkably unscathed. At this time, we do not anticipate any course changes, and we look forward to welcoming runners and spectators to the Valley in a time when we need it most. The Napa Valley Marathon turns 40 this year, and we would love nothing more than to join in solidarity to support the recovery and rebuilding of wine country.

We are offering three ways in which runners can help. 1. Sign up now! A portion of entries through October 31st will go to the North Bay Fire Relief Fund. 2. Can't join in person? Sign up to be a virtual runner. Every virtual runner will be mailed a participant shirt and medal post-race and proceeds will go to the fire relief fund. 3. Donate directly to our GoFundMe, which will be combined with our Napa Valley Marathon proceeds and directed to the North Bay Fire Relief Fund.
