The inaugural Abu Dhabi Marathon will be hosted in the heart of the nation's capital city.
Take in the finest aspects of Abu Dhabi's heritage, modern landmarks and the waters of the Arabian Gulf, at this world-class athletics event, set against the backdrop of the Capital's stunning architecture.
The race will offer runners of all abilities the chance to participate in a range of races from 2.5km and 5km fun runs, to the 10km and full distance marathon. Whether they run, walk, wheelchair or push a buggy, this event truly offers an opportunity for the whole community to participate and spend time with friends and family at the race village which will be open throughout the day, providing entertainment, race coverage and children's activities.
In the spirit of the Nation, celebrating the Year of Zayed, the race will be an inclusive occasion bringing together both elite international athletes, as well as thousands of first timers and seasoned amateur runners from the UAE and beyond.
Participants will begin the marathon outside the ADNOC headquarters, on Abu Dhabi corniche, and follow a route towards the Emirates Heritage Village. Participants will then make their way around Marina Mall, along King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud street, and on to Qasr Al Hosn, one of Abu Dhabi’s oldest and most beautifully maintained stone buildings. The final stretch of the race runs through Mina Zayed, before returning to ADNOC Headquarters.

The inaugural Adnoc Abu Dhabi Marathon took place on Friday morning as professional runners and amateurs alike took to the streets of the UAE capital.
Kenya's Marius Kipserem won the men´s marathon title in 2:04:04, with Ababel Yashaneh of Ethiopia victorious in the women's race.
In the 10km race, Kipserem's compatriot Richard Kimunyan claimed the title by 18 seconds over runner-up Maxwell Rotich. In the women's 10km, Ethiopian Abeba Ejigu stormed to the title, winning by more than a minute over second-placed Emily Kipchumba of Kenya.
