Paul Kipkemoi Kemei Joins KATA: Champion Coach, Visionary Leader, and Community Builder

Saramek & Murinduko, Kenya — July 28, 2025

KATA is proud to welcome a coach whose work speaks for itself: Paul Kipkemoi Kemei, a man who has spent years developing talent in the heart of Kenya, now officially joins the KATA Running Camp and Potato Farm project.

Kemei brings with him two well-established camps—one in Saramek for women and another in Murinduko for men—now fully part of the expanding KATA network, which has grown to 32 camps nationwide.

“KATA Running Camps will change the lives of athletes,” said Kemei.

A Builder of Champions

Paul Kemei isn’t joining KATA to chase the spotlight—he’s here because he knows how to build champions. Over the years, his camps have produced some of Kenya’s most successful runners, including:

Beatrice Chebet – Olympic gold medalist and world record holder in the 5,000m and 10,000m

• Sandrafelis Chebet Tuei – International podium finisher and rising star in long-distance racing

These are just two of many athletes whose careers were launched under Kemei’s guidance.

His approach is grounded in discipline, consistency, and community. It’s not about short-term performance; it’s about long-term transformation—on and off the track.

“I want to unite with all KATA camps as we transform the lives of the athletes and uplift KATA to the top of the world.”

Two Camps, Six Acres, One Vision

With Saramek and Murinduko now officially part of the KATA structure, each location will also manage a three-acre KATA potato farm. That’s six acres total under Kemei’s supervision—an essential part of the KATA model, which blends elite athletic training with agricultural sustainability.

“I am most excited to join the KATA team and to bring my athletes into this unique project that Bob Anderson has created,” he added

Under this model:

• Athletes work up to 25 hours per week on the potato farm

• Camps become self-sustaining through farming and performance-based income

• Each athlete contributes 15% of any prize money, split equally between their camp and KATA

To support this structure, KATA provides interest-free loans for both the training camp setupand the potato farm development, helping operators like Paul build a foundation for long-term success.

Support, Structure, and a Shared Mission

KATA founder Bob Anderson sees Kemei’s arrival as a major milestone:

“I am most excited to announce that Paul has joined our KATA program,” Anderson said.

“He is a star on and off the track and road. He brings so much talent to our program. His passion for athletics is very strong. He joins a very talented group of operators. Go KATA.”

Each KATA camp is required to host a 5K and 10K time trial every two months, with verified distances and results published on My Best Runs. This provides national exposure for athletes training at altitude—something Kemei strongly supports.

Cleanliness, structure, and security are also part of the system. Most camps hire a full-time cook/housekeeper.  Meals, accommodation, and coaching are included for all athletes.

A Coach of Character, Not Just Champions

Kemei doesn’t come to KATA as a former world-class runner—he comes as a coach who’s already made a lasting impact. His strength isn’t in personal times, but in the athletes he’s shaped, the lives he’s changed, and the communities he’s helped uplift.

Now, with the power of KATA behind him—and with a shared mission that blends sport and sustainability—he’s ready to do even more.

And for the athletes under his care, that means opportunity, stability, and a real shot at greatness.
