This year the White Marble Marathon will be the first plastic free marathon to be held in Italy.
Here is how the event will be managed.
First of all, in the race pack there will be nothing in plastic that is not reusable. So no bars or gels will be distributed in the race pack. This does not mean that you will not be able to use gels or bars along the way but only that we will not supply them.In the race pack you will find your personal sponge that you can take with you and use it in the sponging points that you will find along the way.Upon arrival you will find containers to return the sponge to.
At the refreshment points you will find water and salts which will be distributed in totally compostable glasses. In addition, biscuits and fruit will be available from the 10 km refreshment.
As you can guess, this is a great change for the organization of a sporting event of this magnitude, but the future of running and sporting events.
We as White Marble Marathon in the coming years will also try increasingly to organize events that will be as environmentally friendly as possible.
We thank you for your cooperation

“The IAAF and AIMS have a special interest in the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon so if you see their top officials at the third edition, don’t be surprised. Lagos is one of the few marathons in the world that got an IAAF Label after just two editions. This is a rare feat. The event had over 50,000 runners at the first edition and over 73,000 in the second, this is something you rarely find in any part of the world’’ said Ogba.
The President of the history-making Bobsled & Skeleton Federation of Nigeria urged other Governors and corporate bodies to emulate Gov. Ambode and Access Bank.
“Nigeria does not have enough marathons and road races, Ambode and Access Bank have taken the lead with the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon. I urge other governors and corporate bodies to emulate them; we need more races in Nigeria. New York State alone has over 70 marathons and road races in a year. Our political and business leaders must embrace marathon even if it for the health benefits alone,’’ Ogba stressed.
The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, which already has a Bronze label and is eyeing a Silver label, will enter its fourth year in 2019.

(2019) A record 113 runners break the 15 minute mark in the men’s 5k as 49 women go sub 10 minutes over 3k.
Steph Twell clocked a course record equalling 8:59 to clinch victory in the Intersports women’s 3k race, while Finnish athlete Topi Raitanen ran a blistering 13:43 to break the Brooks men’s 5k course record.
Both athletes took the top honours in an excellent night of racing, but there was lightning fast running across the board at the 29th edition of Armagh International Road Races on Thursday night (February 14).
Following the excitement of the women’s main event, it was time for the men to take to the start line in Armagh.
Following a fast first lap, Poland’s Krystian Zalewski and Scottish duo Adam Craig and Luke Traynor were at the front of the tightly packed lead group at the end of the second lap.
As the race progressed it was anyone’s guess who would take the honours from about a large group that included 2018 champion Sam Stabler, Jonny Mellor, Andrew Heyes and Finland’s Raitanen to name a few.
At the bell for the final lap, it was Mellor, Craig andRaitanen who had a small lead on the rest of the field.
In the final stages, it was the strong finishing Finn who clinched the victory in a course record breaking 13:43 and led home a plethora of personal best performances.
Raitanen’s winning time took 11 seconds off American David Nightingale’s 2009 course record.
Taking the runner-up spot was Craig in a time of 13:45 ahead of defending champion Stabler who was also awarded 13:45.
