The 20 Kilometers de Paris (Paris 20 km) is an annual road running competition over 20 kilometers which takes place on the streets of Paris, France in October. First held in 1979, the race attracts top level international competitors and holds IAAF Bronze Label Road Race status.
The competition was the idea of Michel Jazy, a French runner who was an Olympic medallist and two-time European Champion. The first edition was held through a joint effort by the Council of Paris and ASCAIR (the French Airforce's body for sport). The race has been organized under the auspices of ASCAIR since then.
The course for the competition has a double looped, figure 8 style. The start point of the race is in the Trocadéro near the Eiffel Tower and runners then cross the River Seine over the Pont d'Iéna. It heads in an anti-clockwise loop through Bois de Boulogne before completing a smaller, clockwise loop along the banks of the Seine. The finish point is the Musée du quai Branly. The original race distance was 20.3 km, but this was reduced to 20 km in 1981. As a result of poor race organisation at the starting point, athlete's times from 1981 to 1992 are not accepted for record purposes; unusually quick times were recorded as some runners began the race a whole minute before the official starter's gun had been fired.
The men's and women's course records for the 20 km race are held by Kenyan athletes: Evans Cheruiyot completed the distance in 57:19 minutes in 2005 and Sarah Chepchirchir's time of 1:05:03 hours was set in 2013.
The race organizers abide by their own charter of ethics which – aside from outlining typical races rules and safety issues – includes the aims of increasing inclusion of women in the sport of running and promotion of environmentally friendly attitudes.

On October 12, 2008, BERLIN LÄUFT launched a premiere: the ASICS Grand 10 Berlin. Right away, there were 5,363 runners at the start. Thus, the event was the most successful newcomer of the year among the new German races. And the number of participants in the ASICS Grand 10 Berlin is rising significantly.Around 6,500 athletes were registered for the second edition.
Since then, the route of this 10 km race has been leading with start and finish at Charlottenburg Palace right through the capital. The trick is that the participants of this race walk a bit through the Berlin Zoo.Integrated in the ASICS Grand 10 Berlin is a 'tandem' squadron over 2x5 km.
"In the medium term we want to establish the ASICS Grand 10 Berlin as Germany's biggest 10 km run", says Gerhard Janetzky, Race Director of BERLIN LÄUFT.For the first time in May 2008, the organization successfully organized the long-standing 25-kilometer run in Berlin, the BIG 25 Berlin, with a destination at the Olympic Stadium. There is currently no really big, internationally important 10 km race in Germany compared to other countries - BERLIN LÄUFT wants to close this gap with the ASISC Grand 10 Berlin in the medium term.
The route of the ASICS Grand 10 Berlin is a city circuit including the following points: Ernst-Reuter-Platz, Siegessäule, Zoo, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, Kantstraße and the Charlottenburg Palace, where the race also started becomes. The runners run across the Katharina-Heinroth-Ufer into the zoo. Then the route leads among other things past the enclosures of the rhinos and lion.Through the elephant gate it goes to the Olof-Palme-Platz.
The ASICS Grand 10 Berlin has a 'tandem' squadron integrated over 2x5 km.So here two runners can join together who share the 10-km distance. The transition zone of the two 5 km sections is located on Katharina-Heinroth-Ufer.The 2x5-km relay is open to all runners - co-workers, friends, acquaintances, neighbors or family members can join forces to form a 'tandem' squadron.

Whether you're an advanced runner looking to qualify for the Boston Marathon, or just looking for a scenic jog and walk, The Newport Marathon and Half Marathon promises a good time for participants of all speeds.
The Newport Marathon is proud to partner with local charitable organizations to help raise money and awareness. Gray Matter Marketing will donate upwards of $50,000 to these local organizations and we encourage all runners to join our Crowdrise.com page to create even more impact for these worthy non-profit partners.
The Amica Newport Marathon and Half-Marathon share the first 13.1 miles of a scenic tour through The City by The Sea. The race starts with an uphill jaunt on Memorial Boulevard before heading downhill towards Newport Harbor, turning onto the popular Thames Street. The course then winds along the south shore of Newport Harbor before heading into Fort Adams State Park for a quick tour and turn around. Upon leaving the Park, runners work their way towards Ocean Drive with panoramic views of the Atlantic and New England coastline for the next five miles.
After a gradual uphill climb at the end of Ocean Drive, the course turns onto world-famous Bellevue Avenue and past historic mansions such as Rough Point, Marble House and Rosecliff. The run turns off of Bellevue, onto Ruggles with a quick run past The Breakers and through the heart of Salve Regina's campus where cheering students man a popular aid station. A final turn back down Memorial Boulevard takes both Marathon and Half-Marathon runners to Easton's Beach where the two races split. The Half-Marathon participants are awarded their finisher's medal here and the Marathon runners continue on towards Middletown and Second Beach.

In my opinion, the most scenic course in the USA, especially past the mansions and Newport Harbor and get to finish along the boardwalk at Easton's Beach, all while qualifying for Boston a relatively flat course.
