Looking for a great fall race? Look no further than the Gobbler Grind! This race features three great distances (5K, 10K and Half Marathon) to fit your training schedule and get you ready for the feast of all feasts -Thanksgiving!

The Gobbler Grind was started 23 years ago by Mike English and other employees from Garry Gribbles Running Sports who thought it would be fun to plan a race between two stores. At the time, paved running trails almost connected the Ward Parkway store and the Overland Park store at Stoll Park. The trails were measured and it was easy to make it into a marathon.

The name Gobbler Grind was chosen to differentiate from all the other “turkey” races in the fall. The first was won by Eric Peters. As time went on the location was moved, but the race remains a tradition for runners in the Kansas City area.

Do you know the first marathon competition in Japan was held here in Kobe? In other words, Kobe is the birthplace of marathon in Japan!

The first marathon in Japan took place in 1909, in Meiji period. Since the 42.195 km standard distance had not been fixed yet, the race was approximately 32 km long. (By the way, the standard distance for the marathon was set in 1921, directly from the length used in 1908, at the Summer Olympics in London.)

The Kobe Marathon is a competitive and fun marathon race. Approximately 20,000 people gather from all over the country and overseas to participate, and they run through the city, enjoying the air and sights of Kobe.

Experience a thrilling footrace from the vibrant city of Seoul, South Korea! The Seoul Marathon, established to commemorate the 1988 Seoul Olympics, runs a loop across the city.

The course is generally flat and results in fast finishing times, making it the perfect course for international competitors. With a men's marathon elite race and 10km and marathon races for non-professionals, the race also features a women's race, which is usually only open to Korean competitors.
