I love this marathon. And I'm not alone. Runner's World states that "perhaps more than any other running event in the country, this race keeps evolving, keeps getting better". They chose the Portland Marathon as the "Race of the Month" and said the event is one of the "friendliest, best organized, most family-oriented races in the country.

I loved this event and I'm tempted to run it again. The course was beautiful & somewhat entertaining, the field of runners small enough that you didn't feel crowded, aid stations well organized. I didn't know what to expect after crossing the finish line and I was blown away by the swag! After all said & done they give you 2 shirts, a finishers medal, 2 commemorative coins, and plenty of recovery fuel. You definitely get your money's worth from your registration cost. There are a couple of hills in this race, and you cross a couple of bridges, which gives you a nice change-up of muscles. It happened to be sunny on race day and the views were stunning.
