We really suffered it. After the many uncertainties resulting from the 2 years of covid, we found ourselves with the nightmare of torrential rain, because these were the forecasts until at least Friday evening.
And instead the many initiatives planned for both Saturday and Sunday were embraced by the more favorable weather situation. We kept a little fear until the end. Marathon runners, you know, are a bit crazy and therefore they would not have stopped. There was no doubt about all the forces present on the route, either in service or voluntary. But the families, the famous Italian mothers that the vulgate presents as always fearful for the health of their children, could have decided to stay at home.
And instead, Saturday afternoon, the Daturi Arena overrun with children who participated in Bimbimbici and the games organized by Decathlon and Acrobatic Fitness, started to give us some hope.
But it was impossible to predict what happened on Sunday morning: everyone, absolutely everyone, decided to come on the Public Walk to greet and encourage the 1100 registered for the 25 edition of the Placentia Half Marathon. A unique show, difficult to describe, not only in words, but also through images and videos. It seemed to be in the final uphill stages of the Tour de France or the Giro d'Italia. What was most evident was the joy of the children (but also of the parents and many teachers) and of the athletes who no longer knew which hand to touch while showing everyone the best smile available.
Seeking positive emotions even in a difficult period like this does not mean wanting to forget who has suffered and who is still suffering. We are sure that it is the only way to regain the strength to help those in greatest need. For us at least, that's how it works.
THANKS THANKS TO ALL

The MK Marathon starts from one of our fabulous Milton Keynes landmarks, the stadium MK. The first five miles are on wide roads and tree lined boulevards, giving runners a chance to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy some enthusiastic spectator support.
The marathon route then continues through picturesque Woughton-on-the-Green and Woolstone parishes, where the half marathoners split from the full marathon course at mile seven.
The marathon runners continue through the original Milton Keynes Village, renowned for it’s picture postcard thatched cottages and then on to enjoy the beauty of Willen Lake and the tranquility of the Peace Pagoda before looping back to join the meandering and historic grand union canal. The route will then take in St Andrews, a 13thCentury church, before passing the Bradwell Windmill, built in 1810 at around mile 18.
The route continues west to Bancroft where it passes the remains of an ancient Roman Villa. Runners will then head south, following the brook, passing the famous Concrete Cows and then Bradwell Abbey, built in the 14th century.
The route follows the brook further south, through the fertile Loughton Valley Park, passing Lodge Lake and then Teardrop Lakes before heading back for a victory lap of the stadium MK football pitch and that magical stadium finish!
The majority of the MK Marathon route is incredibly green and scenic. It includes beautiful parks and lakes, picturesque villages and the canal towpath, and offers a truly spectacular experience for our runners.

The largest 25K in the country, the USATF certified loop course starts in downtown Grand Rapids on Monroe Avenue at Lyon Street and heads south, leaving the city to weave through parks and along the Grand River before finishing back downtown.
When Frank Cashman from the Grand Rapids Track Club approached Marty Allen, then Marketing Director for Old Kent Bank, in the mid 1970s about initiating a local road race, Allen was intrigued.
Cashman worked out what he felt was the perfect distance, a 25K that started and finished in downtown Grand Rapids and Allen pledged the funding. In 1978, just over 1,000 runners took to the streets on the second Saturday of May for the first annual Old Kent River Bank Run.
In 2001, Old Kent Bank merged with Fifth Third Bank, and the event was renamed to showcase its new owner. With the transition of race ownership in 2018 to Riverbank Events and Media , a group of leading community partners came together including Amway, Fifth Third Bank and Spectrum Health to insure the race will continue for many years to follow on the second Saturday in May in downtown Grand Rapids.
