Trolley Run

Now in its 30th year, the idea for this fundraiser was presented to the Friends of CCVI by the former Michael Forbes Restaurants, Inc., which owned two restaurants, four miles apart in the heart of Kansas City and The Plaza shopping area. The four-mile course follows the old streetcar/trolley tracks and hence, the name, Trolley Run.

Trolley Run is the largest annual fundraiser for CCVI and provides a critical funding in the CCVI programming budget. Trolley Run has succeeded through the generous support of our individual and corporate sponsors, including longtime title sponsor Sabates Eye Centers and many others.

Over the years, the Trolley Run has become one of the largest timed four-mile run in the United States, and the first major run in Kansas City to use chip technology for race results.

A group of volunteer chairmen and some Memorial staff, lead a volunteer corps to carry out the full weekend of events allowing the maximum amount of proceeds benefit the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum.

From its inaugural race in 2001 with just shy of 5,000 participants, the event now hosts over 25,000 runners and walkers from every state and several foreign countries. The Mission of the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is to celebrate life, reach for the future, honor the memories of those who were killed and unite the world in hope.

This is not just another marathon. It is a Run to Remember…and a race to show that we can each make a difference and change the world.

The Big Sur to Carmel run literally takes your breath away. It's no surprise that this stretch of Highway One along California's Pacific Coast was the nation's first nationally designated Scenic Highway.

Big Sur Marathon

The Big Sur International Marathon is a point-to-point course run on scenic CA Highway 1 from Big Sur to Carmel the last Sunday of April every year. Towering redwoods, crashing waves, coastal mountains and verdant pastures are featured on this bucket list course. The centerpiece of the course is the iconic Bixby Bridge, located at the halfway point of the race, where you’ll be greeted by a tuxedoed musician playing a Yamaha Baby Grand Piano.
