The 23rd edition of the Semi-marathon international de la ville de Laâyoune, initiated by the Chabab Sakia El Hamra d'athlétisme club, aura lieu le 5 novembre prochain.

Placed under the aegis of the Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation and the Regional Athletics League, under the sign "Sport, a pillar for solidarity, development and openness", this competition is organized as part of the festivities marking the celebration of the anniversary of the glorious Green March, said a statement from the organizers.

As in previous years, this sporting event will see the participation of athletes from different countries including Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, France, Spain, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Gabon and Bahrain, in addition to Moroccan athletes.

For this 23rd edition, the organising committee is planning a race for young people under 16 years old over a distance of 3 km, in addition to a 5 km event for the benefit of pupils and students from institutes and university establishments, the objective being to encourage this category to practice athletics and to bring the sport closer to the rising generations.
