The Changsha Marathon, which commenced in 2015, has garnered considerable acclaim from long-distance running aficionados both domestically and internationally, thanks to its exemplary execution standards and unique course design. The event has been honoured with titles such as the "Gold Medal Event from the Chinese Athletics Association" and the "Silver Label Race for Road Running from World Athletics," evolving into a distinctive and influential brand event.
Changsha is a renowned cultural city with a rich historical legacy. With over three millennia of history, it is one of China’s earliest national historical and cultural cities. Its cultural artefacts, including the Mawangdui Han Tomb, Zoumalou Three Kingdoms bamboo slips, Tongguan Kiln, and Yuelu Academy, are celebrated both locally and internationally.
During the marathon, participants pass through notable scenic spots such as Yuelu Mountain, known for its "red hands and flowers in the month of frost," the Xiangjiang River, admired for its "green water as blue in spring," and Orange Island, famed for "standing alone in the cold autumn, Xiangjiang River flowing north."
