We will see the 21th year of this great meditative run through the hills and meadows of historic Camp Roberts Army National Guard Reservation in north San Luis Obispo County along the fertile Salinas River Valley. Marathon and half marathon for walkers; 10k and 5k; for Children under age 12 Mile Course. Child care available if we know ahead to secure volunteers. Museum and Annex open for browsing as well as some vehicle displays for climbing & photo ops.
Most aid stations supported by the Camp Roberts Fire Department with back up by the San Miguel Volunteer Fire Department. Starting at 620′ above sea level the course goes out and back rising to 977′.
It is quiet and serene with wildlife spectators, spectacular views, training and research sites; aid stations and porta potties every 2 miles. {mile 2 (use the gym), 4.2, 6, 8.2 (half marathon turn around), 10, 12, 14, and 14.9 (full marathon turn around) manned by parents, students, and alumni} Funds raised support Lillian Larsen School Athletics. All races are run on the grounds of Camp Roberts, just north of San Miguel, California. Out-and-back course on paved road with dirt and packed gravel shoulders. Flat to gentle rolling hills, with breathtaking views of oak-studded hillsides, Salinas and Nacimiento Rivers and abundant Central Coast wildlife. Start line is at 620′ in front of gymnasium and rises to 997′ at the marathon turn-around spot.
