Mother of four wins her third straight half marathon - Little Rock is next
Tia Stone, a 39-year-old mother of four children, captured her third straight women's overall title Sunday morning in the 11th annual Run the Line half-marathon. The Searcy, Ark., runner, who placed fourth overall, completed the 13.1-mile course in 1 hour, 25 minutes, 46 seconds. "This race is like a good practice run for me." said Stone, who will be running in the Little Rock Marathon in two weeks for the third straight year. "It was my dad that got me interested in running because he was a runner where I grew up in southeast Florida," she said. "I ran relays in high school as well as college." For Stone, Sunday's half marathon was just a warm up for a full marathon in Little Rock
