America's Alllie Kieffer Was A Surprised Fifth at NYC

30-year-old Allie Kieffer was one of the major surprises at the 2017 NYC Marathon, breaking 2:30 for the first time and finishing fifth overall. Her 2:29:39 was a staggering improvement. In January last year, she ran her first marathon in Miami, which she won in 2:55:30 despite not preparing specifically for the race. Three months later, she completed an unusual challenge at The Armory, breaking the world record for the indoor marathon. and reeling off 211 laps of the 200-meter track in 2:44:44.
