Christopher Gondwe was first to cross the finish line at Victoria Falls men's Marathon clocking 2:25:36

Christopher Gondwe won the Victoria Falls Marathon. Gondwe is a seasoned runner who has participated in other marathons like the Liquor Hub Charity Race finished the marathon in 2 hours 25 minutes and 36 seconds.

A zambian by the name of Costern Chiyaba came second, Lyno Muchena came third.

For the ladies, Olivia Chitate came first.

The winner shied away from the media as he immediately disappeared from the finishing venue.

His teammate Sibanda was way short of clinching a possible sixth title as he only managed to finish in two hours 27 minutes and three seconds, six minutes slower than his last year’s two hours 21 minutes and eight seconds finish that won him the race.

The 38-year-old Sibanda who ran in the 10km race at the recent Tanganda marathon, said it was not his day.

“Days are different and sometimes you don’t get to win but I will be around again next year,” he said.

In second place was Zambian Costern Chiyaba who finished eight seconds slower than Gondwe in two hours 25 minutes and 44 seconds.
