Chandler Crowned the Official Winner In Dallas

Bob Podkaminer, a veteran international race official, said USA Track & Field added a new rule: "A fellow competitor can help you stand up, but no one can help you make forward progress," said Podkaminer by phone from his home in Northern California. "When you are in distress, then it is no longer sport. That's one of the reasons why this particular rule came into effect. The well-being of an athlete is paramount. That's why I think it's a good thing that happened [at the Dallas Marathon]."
