Seattle is such a fun city and one that we love coming back to year after year,” said Lyndsi Weichert, Event Manager. “This race is a great way for participants to see Seattle’s famous sights and beautiful scenery as they take on their 13.1 or 26.2 mile journey. We encourage all runners to grab a friend, start training and sign up for this epic summer race next year.”
Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle will take runners on a tour showcasing the best of Seattle. The marathon and half marathon courses will offer breathtaking views of the Cascades, Mount Rainier, Downtown Seattle and CenturyLink Field.
In true Rock ‘n’ Roll fashion local bands will play through the streets of Seattle, along with spectators and high school cheer leading teams lining the route to motivate runners to the finish line. Upon finishing, participants are invited to relax and celebrate with family and friends at the finish line festival and Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series.

For over 20 years, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series has made running fun by infusing each course with live bands, cheer teams and more. Our focus to deliver best-in-class running events, where music is core and our community encourages participants to feel like they are something bigger than themselves. We promise to bring more music, better runner support, improved technology, and more community engagement to every event, every step of the way.
About the course
Starting and finishing in Seattle Center, both courses will follow the first 13.1 miles together. Heading immediately south through downtown on 5th Ave, you'll run into the Columbia Street tunnel and begin the climb towards Fremont on the I-5 Express Lanes. After arriving in Fremont you’ll make your way alongside the Lake Washington Ship Canal and Gas Works Park on your way to the Google Seattle Campus. While running along the water you'll also pass the Brooks Trailhead - the one and only retail store of Brooks Running Shoes.
After exiting Fremont you’ll continue running west on Leary Way to head south over the Ballard Bridge. Once over the bridge, prepare yourself to earn your views as you make your way over the top of the famous Queen Anne neighborhood. We promise it will all be worth it as you pass by the original Grey’s Anatomy House on your way downhill to one of the most epic views of the Seattle skyline at Kerry Park. From here, the course makes its way back to Seattle Center where the Half and the Full courses will inevitably split off.
Marathoners will continue the journey north, running over the Aurora Ave Bridge and making their way to the biggest local running area in the city, looping Green Lake. After your 4 mile tour of this gorgeous Seattle neighborhood, you’ll head back south winding your way through the shade of Woodland Park and back down to finish out your 26.2 miles at the Museum of Pop Culture.
