Pacific Grove 10K/5K and Pacific Grove Double Road Race15K and 8K
People come from all over the world to visit the almostintoxicatedly beautiful Monterey Peninsula and the Pacific Grove-Carmel area, with its extraordinary coastline, exotic vegetation (including the Lone Cypress, the world’s most famous tree), sea mammals, world-class golf courses (Pebble Beach, Spyglass, etc.) and picture-postcard-perfect 17-Mile Drive.
Run either the Double Road Race 15k (10+5) or the Pacific Grove 10k/5k.
This is truly the Rivera of the California coast – only more beautiful, if that’s possible! As one visitor from Africa said, “It’s hard to believe a place like this actually exists!”
You can run a Double in this remarkable setting – not only getting a chance to run twice in this unique two-stage race on a flat, paved, out-and-back road course that has a beautiful, groomed golf course on one side (one of the many great courses in the area) and the rugged, picturesque California coastline on the other, with its rocks, seals, colorful marine vegetation, and, of course, the beautiful blue Pacific stretching to the west as far as the eye can see.
All that, plus this is a very fast course, so much so it’s where Kenyan road ace Julius Koskei blistered thepavement in both the 10K and 5K stagesof the 2015 Pacific Grove Double 15K, running 29:11 and 14 minutes flat to set the current men’s world record of 43:11!
Double Racing is a two stage race. For the Double Road Race, runners first run 10K and then the 5K will start one hour 45 minutes after the start of the 10K. Times from both legs are added together for scoring.
