The Headwaters of the Frio Marathon/Half Marathon/10K is a fundraising event to support Hill Country Youth Ranch and Big Springs Ranch for Children which work to provide healing and restoration to children who have been traumatized through abuse, abandonment or neglect.
this truly is a special event, and we’re looking for a special kind of participant! We know this event is not for everyone. If you’re the kind of person who finds joy and fulfillment in physical challenges like marathons, half marathons or 10K’s, whether running or walking, AND have a heart to help kids by supporting worthy nonprofits like Hill Country Youth Ranch / Big Springs Ranch for Children, you’re just the kind ofperson we're looking for! The event is limited to 250 total participants. Plan now to join us for our2nd annual event!
There is a modest registration fee to indicate your commitment and help offset expenses. There is also a fundraising component for each participant. To learn more, please visit www.youth-ranch.org. Rather than pay an entry fee, each participant in this event commits to a minimum fundraising amount to benefit the vital work of these sister ranches.
We have established minimum fundraising commitments for each event category. The minimum for the Marathon is $750, the Half Marathon is $500, and the 10K is $250. The registration fees are equal to 10% of these amounts or $75, $50, and $25 respectively. The marathon and half marathon course is on the 7,050 acre Big Springs Ranch for Children in the Texas Hill Country and is epic in beauty. The ranch is 11.5 miles long and up to 4 miles wide.
Most of the 7,050 acres are virtually untouched by humans with fewer than 100 visitors per year. The course winds through a wide variety of spectacular terrain. You will climb to the top of ridges and descend to river valleys, traverse canyons, forests and meadows, cross streams and run past Big Springs, the very source of the Frio River. Water and aid stations will be located approximately every 2-3 miles along the course. Make plans now to join us for this outstanding, inaugural event!
Entrance is limited to the first 150 participants.
